Contact_groups for hosts always null in cfg file

Post by niebais »

Ok,
This problem has me baffled. It is causing us problems with permissions and users being able to see certain hosts.

Click on Core Configuration Manager->Tools->write config files->check configuration files and we see the following errors (There are 25 of these errors that are all similar)
Warning: Host 'www.nuskin.com' has no default contacts or contactgroups defined!

The real mystery is the fact that every single one of these services and hosts belongs to a contact group called Unix_SA_Infra. When I look at the configuration file I see that contact_groups is set to "null". I've tried adding the host to 5 contact groups, deleting it from contact groups, and re-adding it again, but it didn't fix it.

How do I go about fixing these errors?

Thanks. This is causing a headache with permissions and assigning monitors to specific people.

Ok, this one is more serious than I thought originally. People aren't being notified when certain services are under load or having problems right now.

Ok, here's something that helped us a little. I can fix the problem by clicking "configure" on the service through the service detail page and it will change the contact_groups when I click submit. Hopefully that will help you figure out how to solve this one quicker.

Currently working on this one...

Can you send us a screenshot of your Core Config Alert settings?

In the Core Config Manager->(your host or service)->Alert Settings Tab, check and see under the "Contact" and "Contact Groups" boxes that the ""standard" radio button is selected, and not the "null."
