We'll keep this in mind for the future. What type of integration would you be looking for?

A. Generating user accounts from data found in an LDAP server
B. Authenticating against an LDAP server
C. Both of the above
D. Something else?

Both of the above would be ever so helpful. :)

Indeed - this would be a very useful feature.
Thanks

LDAP Authentication would be a bonus, especially if you could assign simple roles based on containers (e.g. read-only user, modifier, admin). My personal preference would be to simply authenticate against an existing ldap server, and not maintain a separate list within nagios.

Yes both please.
Also roles based on membership of AD groups - view only, configure & Admin roles.

Nagios XI Logins Integrated with Active Directory?

Post by Box293 »

Is it possible to configure Nagios XI to be linked with Active Directory / LDAP for accounts and groups?

Probably not - the storage of LDAP is vary free form as it's origins come from a Phone Book(Name/Street Address -> Number) container, where OU(s) were obviously used to construct the Yellow Pages.

A number of people have suggested LDAP integration for authentication, so this is something we'll look at incorporating in future versions. LDAP authentication should be do-able by integration with PAM. Active Directory (which is a hybrid/takeoff of vanilla LDAP directories) should be possible, but it might take a bit longer to test that out. Once we get vanilla LDAP integration working, we'd welcome testing by folks who have Active Directory installations. :-)
